Vote John Moyer for Stow-Munroe Falls School Board
Steady Leadership. Experienced Educator. Our Preferred Future.

Meet John Moyer
Hello neighbors! I’m excited to announce my candidacy for the Stow-Munroe Falls School Board. As a lifelong educator at SMFHS and a follower of Jesus since my late teens, I am eager to continue serving our community in a crucial role. My children are proud graduates of SMFHS and my wife and I have lived in our community since 2000. I believe that excellent schools start with strong leadership, and as a leadership consultant to various school districts, I understand what it takes to make our neighborhood schools the top choice for families. My focus is on accountability, transparency, and deep listening, and I’m ready to collaborate with all stakeholders to shape our preferred future, always keeping “Students First”.

Putting Students First, Shaping Our Preferred Future
As a retired teacher and experienced leadership consultant, I’ve dedicated my life to education. I believe we should prioritize students by preparing them to succeed academically and socially as critical thinkers in a world that continue to evolve with increasing complexity.

Strong Public Schools, Strong Communities
Families today have choices. That’s why we must make Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools the clear first choice—a place where families want to send their children. Our schools should be centers of excellence, belonging, and opportunity.
Restore Trust Through Transparency and Accountability
Community members have voiced concerns about unwise expenditures and a lack of transparency. While I can’t change the past, I’m committed to rebuilding trust by listening deeply, making decisions transparently, and promoting a culture of clear accountability.

"Mr. Moyer has always embodied what it means to put students first. As a proud Stow Bulldog, I had the privilege of being in his class for two years, and even years after graduation, he remained a mentor in my life. His ability to connect with students in a meaningful way left a lasting impact on me, not just academically, but personally. I later had the opportunity to take a college class with him, and that experience strengthened my leadership skills and helped shape my path into education. "It is with great enthusiasm that I write in support of Mr. John Moyer and his candidacy for the SMF School Board. As a former resident of Stow, Ohio, and a former student of Mr. Moyer during my time at Stow-Munroe Falls High School, I can say without hesitation that this individual represents the very best of what our community has to offer. In the classroom, Mr. Moyer was a model of integrity, professionalism, and intellectual balance. As a government teacher, he navigated complex and often polarizing topics with remarkable neutrality—creating an environment where students felt safe to explore ideas, ask questions, and develop their own informed perspectives. This commitment to impartiality wasn’t just admirable; it was formative. It taught us not what to think, but how to think—an approach that is sorely needed in today’s educational and civic spaces. That same even-handedness, paired with a deep respect for diverse viewpoints, will make Mr. Moyer an exceptional addition to the school board. His ability to listen, synthesize, and lead with fairness will serve the district well, especially as it continues to grow and evolve. His candidacy is a reminder of what makes Stow great: thoughtful leadership, community-minded values, and a dedication to excellence in education. Stow-Munroe Falls Schools have long been a source of pride, and I believe Mr. Moyer will help ensure that tradition continues for years to come. I wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy and urge others to recognize the value he brings—not just as a former educator, but as a steward of our community’s future."

"Almost ten years after graduating from Mr. Moyer’s government course, I may not remember every article of the Constitution, but I can still recall how he navigated complicated issues in current events with tact, nuance, and an approachable attitude. Mr. Moyer’s constant dedication to leadership and unwavering commitment to putting the students first is what made him such a memorable educator and what will make him a great asset to the Stow-Munroe Falls school board."

"As a teacher, Mr. Moyer made a lasting impact on my life. In high school, he created a psychologically safe environment that allowed students to show up as their full selves. I had many great teachers during my time in Stow, but Mr. Moyer was the only one I felt comfortable opening up to about personal challenges. That speaks volumes about the kind of trust and care he fosters. Even after I graduated, Mr. Moyer—who I still struggle to call John!—has continued to support me. He’s been a mentor, an advocate, and a steady presence who’s helped shape who I am today both personally and professionally. Mr. Moyer is a strong, thoughtful leader who leads with empathy and integrity. It’s clear he puts students first—not just in words, but in action. He sees students for who they are and helps them become who they’re meant to be. I’m confident he’ll bring that same energy, heart, and vision to the school board, and continue building a legacy of support and inclusion in the Stow-Munroe Falls school system."

"As a former student, a decade later I still carry a lesson learned in Mr. Moyer’s classroom. It wasn’t about government, but about life — that it is rarely a linear path from point A to point B, but one where you learn, adapt, redirect, and grow as you discover your own path forward. Through lessons like this, Mr. Moyer went beyond academics, putting students first by caring about the people we were becoming and encouraging us to grow into resilient individuals. As an attentive, reflective, and compassionate leader, I am confident John Moyer will be an invaluable asset to the Stow-Munroe Falls School Board. "
